Everyone has been raving about To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. According to many, it’s one of the best rom-com TV movies in modern times. The movie also got really good reviews online with Rotten Tomatoes certifying it as “Fresh” with a 7.3/10 rating. Impressive!
Besides Lana Condor and Noah Centineo emerging as prominent actors from the movie, another unlikely star has also rose to fame: Yakult.
If you’ve already watched the film, you’ll know that Yakult is called a “korean yoghurt smoothie” and cameos a number of times throughout the film. Even though the drink’s name is never specifically mentioned, it appears that fans were quick to recognise the distinctive red foil topped tiny bottle anyway and started talking about it on Twitter.
i will never get over them referring to yakult as “korean yogurt smoothie” in tatbilb 🙁 its just liquified laxative tbh

I just realized that thanks to TATBILB, I’ve had more conversations about Yakult in the last two weeks than I’ve had in my entire almost-three decades of being alive.

Since the movie’s release, Yakult’s “mention frequency” spiked online and the company’s shares, which had previously dropped by 6% this year, actually climbed by 2.6%! The stock closed 1.7% higher last Monday, the highest it’s been since 31 July. What is it about Asian stuff that gets Americans excited AFTER it’s been on the screen?
i went to walmart but all the locals who watched tatbilb took the last yakult

Now, can someone please tell us that To All The Boy’s I’ve Loved Before has impacted Yakult more than rap songs have impacted the sales of luxury brands? Cause we’ve had enough of hearing “gucci gang gucci gang”.
