Just in case there’s any doubt, the 21st Century way is via the Internet. Right, now that that’s all cleared up, let’s get to this bit of good news!
Gone are the days when you have to travel all the way to the Pasar Seni bus hub (and without a concession card too) to apply for a MyRapid Touch ‘n Go concession card because according to a statement released by Rapid KL, senior citizen, disabled (OKU), and student concession cards can now be applied online through the MyRapid website!
For existing cardholders, you can even renew your card online.
Of course, to ensure your application is successful, you’ll want to make sure you submit all necessary documents including a passport-sized photo of yourself against a blue background. Check the link provided above for more detailed info.
You’ll also want to make sure you meet the following criteria:
- Senior citizen card: Malaysian citizen aged 60 years old and above
- Disable (OKU) card: Malaysian citizen with sight, hearing, psychiatric, speech, learning disability, and other disabilities
- Student card: Local and foreign students in all categories (primary, secondary, college, and university)
What’s the big deal with these cards?
Apart from the convenience? Concession card holders will also enjoy a 50% fare discount for every journey on RapidKL bus, BRT, LRT, monorail, and MRT services.
Just a few small things to note though. Online registration closes at 4pm daily, and while you can apply for these cards online, you’ll still have to make the journey to either the Pasar Seni, Hang Tuah, Sun U Monash, or Bandar Tun Hussein Onn station to pick up your card once it’s available after five working days.
