She may only be 19, but Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) student, Janushaa, is now a part of Malaysian history because she’s the nation’s first female student to be enrolled in the US Naval Academy!
Janushaa, along with other cadets from all over the world, will be attending a four-year diploma program at the military academy to become a professional military officer.
To mark the historical moment, she was presented with an official offer letter by the US Ambassador Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir at an event held at her former school, SK Clifford Hall, in Lipis, Pahang. Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Headquarters Human Resources Development, Captain Azhar Adam, was also present to join in the celebration.

Janushaa credited her loved ones for their encouragement, and for helping to make the dream a reality. “I hope one day I’ll be a professional pilot, to prove that gender is not a barrier to achieve our dream. I also hope to be a successful catalyst,” she said.
