It’s Merdeka month, and it’s common to see the Jalur Gemilang everywhere—houses, cars, shops, restaurants, you name it! Just look at this guy!
But if you’re a shop owner from Pahang, you must fly the flag at all costs. Business premises that fail to do so would have to fork out a compound of RM250.
The Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) said that the directive to fly both the Jalur Gemilang and the Pahang flag was enshrined in MPK license terms.
The move is supposed to further foster a sense of patriotism among Malaysians, especially traders in the council area. The flag needs to be in good condition too, and is far from defects. For instance, the flags mustn’t be torn or faded. The business orders are also expected to fly the flags from 1 August to 16 September 2018.
So, get yourself a flag and don’t forget to wave it real good!
