Yesterday, news broke that Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau attended a Hantu Kak Limah (HKL) success party at Berjaya Times Square Hotel. If you’re wondering what on earth the 57-year-old is doing at the Malaysian movie event, well, as it turns out, he’s actually one of the investors!

And a happy investor he must be because HKL is bringing in the big bucks! Since premiering on 9 August, the Malay horror comedy has raked in RM36 million to date—far exceeding its RM1.8 million budget, and making it the current most successful movie in the country. Its theme song, “Srikandi Cintaku”, has also been viewed about three million times on YouTube.
HKL was jointly produced by Astro Shaw and Infinitus Entertainment (M) Sdn Bhd, of which Lau is a part of. Impressed by the success of the movie, Lau exclaimed, “We are looking forward to working with you guys again, again and again.”
And “again” is happening pretty soon—next year to be exact. Astro Shaw and Infinitus Entertainment have revealed that they are collaborating on the next installment of the HKL franchise, Zombie Ultimatum Kampung Pisang, which will begin filming in 2019.
This partnership with a Malay movie however, isn’t the first for Lau. While digging up info on Infinitus Entertainment, we found out that the film company also co-produced another famous Malay movie, J Revolusi, in 2017.
Hmmm, we wonder if Lau will have a surprise cameo role in the next HKL flick?
