Lee Zii Jia’s campaign at the Australian badminton Open has ended after he lost his first-round match.
 
This comes a day after he went through two qualifying matches.

He had to go through the qualifying rounds, as his recent injury woes caused him to fall to 64th in the world rankings.  

However, Fellow singles shuttler Justin Hoh reached the second round.

England boss Thomas Tuchel has played down claims that his team is one of the favourites to win this year’s Football Festival in North America.  

However, he says he’s not ruling it out altogether, as he believes they could have a good chance if they get past the quarterfinals.  

The German adds that the most important thing is for the team to stay calm and focused, and take the tournament one match at a time.  

England kick off their Group L campaign against Croatia on June 18th.

Meanwhile, the US has defended the decision to block a Somali referee from entering the country to officiate in the tournament.  

A White House spokesman says there were ‘very good reasons’ to deny his entry, but refused to elaborate.

Outgoing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is close to signing a deal to join Inter Milan.  

The Brazilian, who officially becomes a free agent at the end of the month, reportedly chose to move to Italy despite interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Real Madrid are planning a bid for Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori.

The Spanish giants are optimistic about their chances, as Calafiori had previously played under incoming boss Jose Mourinho at Roma.
