If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) at all, then surely you’re well aware by now that Disney recently gave director James Gunn the boot for his controversial tweets that made light of very serious issues such as paedophilia and rape before he took on the role of director of Guardians of the Galaxy.
This, of course, meant that the production of the third installment of the sci-fi superhero franchise had to come to a halt as Marvel Studios scour the nine realms for Gunn’s replacement. Luckily, there’s one person in Midgard that might fit the job description. He’s none other than Taika Waititi, the director of, arguably the best, installment of the Thor franchise: Thor: Ragnarok.
While nothing is confirmed yet, it was reported that Taika recently had a meeting with Marvel for a mystery project which, considering the timing and how much everyone loved Thor: Ragnarok, could point to him taking over the director’s seat of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Having Taika take over sounds like a pretty good idea if you ask us. The guy sure knows how to make superhero movies action-packed and funny, both of which are what the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are known for.
