Here’s What’s Up With That Viral Video Of A Dude Who Used His Motorcycle To Langgar His Awek

Published

on

A video recording showing a dude hitting a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, has gone viral on Twitter since last Friday. The one-minute-19-second video was uploaded by a social media user and has since been viewed over 500,000 times.

The recording shows the dude scolding his girlfriend. Then in a sudden bout of rage, he ends up using his motorcycle to langgar her.

Muhamad Khalil Jamian, 30, a bystander who happened to record the incident spoke to Astro Awani over what he saw. According to him, the incident occurred outside a condominium in Bangsar South at about 9pm on Friday.

Khalil said he didn’t expect the incident to escalate as such. He explained that in the beginning, the man didn’t even raise his voice. However, at one point, the man became so angry he started beating the woman.

“There was a short argument, but I think maybe the woman had done something.

I heard him scold her saying “Shahirah, why did you do such things behind my back?”

First, the man was crying, then he rode off on his motorcycle leaving the woman behind because she refused to go with him.

About a minute or so later, he turned around and confronted her again. An argument ensued and he turned his motorcycle and knocked into her with it.”

Seeing the incident escalate, Khalil shouted at the man from several floors above, hoping to get him to stop hitting the victim. Khalil said, besides knocking into her using his motorcycle, the man also slapped, punched, and hit the victim’s head using a handbag. Khalil added that the incident happened so quickly he didn’t have time to do anything other than shout.

“The attack lasted about one to two minutes, and then the couple left together. If I had gone downstairs, they wouldn’t be there by the time I arrived.

Also, a tall concrete wall surrounds my housing area. To get to where they were, I would have to go downstairs and get into my car and drive out of the area.

If I called the police, I don’t think they would be able to arrive in time either.”

Khalil said that if the fight had lasted for a while, he would have surely gone and helped the victim. However, he personally didn’t think the man intended to hurt the victim. Based on what he heard, the man seemed to care for his girlfriend.

“I heard him say “I’ve been taking care of you, how could you do this to me?” So, I think he still cares for her.”

“If the woman hadn’t done anything wrong, she wouldn’t have sat there taking it like that, she would have fought back. Maybe there’s something that we aren’t aware of. We cannot make any assumptions”

Khalil has since lodged a police report of the incident.

He also advised the public to avoid speculating and to be concerned and helpful citizens if they were ever faced with a similar situation.

Three churches and four hotels in Sri Lanka were attacked on Easter Sunday, leaving an estimated 290 people dead and 450 wounded.

The eight explosions, some of which were reportedly suicide bomb attacks, is one of the only major attacks to hit Sri Lanka since the end of the civil war 10 years ago.

Since the attack, the Sri Lankan government has declared a curfew and blocked major social media networks in the country, including Facebook and Whatsapp, to prevent misinformation and rumours from circulating.

Politicians and religious leaders stand united in their shock and condemnation of the attacks. Here are some of their reactions.

Pope Francis

“I learned with sadness and pain of the news of the grave attacks, that precisely today, Easter, brought mourning and pain to churches and other places where people were gathered in Sri Lanka,” he told tens of thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square to hear his Easter Sunday message.

I wish to express my affectionate closeness to the Christian community, hit while it was gathered in prayer, and to all the victims of such cruel violence.”

“New Zealand condemns all acts of terrorism, and our resolve has only been strengthened by the attack on our soil on the 15th of March. To see an attack in Sri Lanka while people were in churches and at hotels is devastating,” she said in a written statement.

“New Zealand rejects all forms of extremism and stands for freedom of religion and the right to worship safely. Collectively we must find the will and the answers to end such violence.”

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al- Mustafa Billah Shah

His Majesty strongly condemns the perpetrators involved in the blasts and is profoundly saddened by the devastating loss of life and injuries,” said a statement from Istana Negara issued by the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

“His Majesty also expresses his condolences and utmost sympathy for the victims of the “senseless and barbaric crime” and is saddened that innocent people were targeted during a time of prayer and celebration.”

“His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong conveys Malaysia’s support and solidarity to the victims, their families and the people of Sri Lanka.”

Seven people have reportedly been arrested in a raid on a house in Colombo in relation to the attacks, during which three police officers were killed. Further details on the raid have not yet been made available.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Malaysians love their food. And we like to eat whatever the heck we please, whenever the heck it pleases us.

So, when an image of a local English exam paper which showed that the teacher unexplainably corrected their student’s answer for their choice of lunch was shared on Facebook, Malaysian netizens were predictably annoyed.

Many netizens tried to make sense of the question, while others urged everyone to husnuzon, and not accuse the teacher of ill intentions.

A Malaysian Genius Created A Google Chrome Extension That Automatically Blurs Semua Endgame Spoilers

Although Marvel has informed all Avengers fans that Thanos demands our collective silence for Avengers: Endgame, there’s sure to be a couple of jerks who love to do nothing else if not ruin the fun for everyone by posting spoilers online.

via GIPHY

While we have taken to un-friending these horrible people on Facebook (we honestly recommend this, it feels so good), it seems that now there’s a less passive aggressive way to deal with them.

Top dog Malaysian, Ng Khai Yong, has created a Google Chrome extension that will ensure you don’t see any Avengers: Endgame spoilers

The aptly called No Spoilers extension automatically blurs any post talking about the long-awaited film.

Mashable Asia tested the extension out by installing it and then visiting the Avengers Facebook page. Here’s what they saw: Nothing.

Image via Mashable Asia

Heck, it works so well that when Khai Yong shared the extension on his own Facebook profile, he couldn’t see his post. 🤣

This basically means that the extension will automatically blur anything that mentions Avengers: Endgame. Which might include updates too. Personally, we don’t mind. Anything but spoilers, please.

First It Was Bomba’s “Fireproof” Suits, Now Their Fire Trucks Are Breaking Down

Facing life-threatening situations is part and parcel of being a firefighter. These are the people who keep us and our property safe from fires, assist us during natural disasters, save us from unwanted reptilian visitors in our homes and hold search and rescue operations when we are missing. The least we can do is make sure their equipment is in good working order for them to do their job.

However, a recent Harian Metro exclusive revealed that almost 40 per cent of Bomba’s fire trucks, aka Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT) dah rosak and takboleh pakai. According to the source who spoke to Harian Metro, the vehicles drive shafts or power take off (PTO) keep breaking down leaving almost half of their nationwide fleet completely unusable.

Image via Harian Metro

The faulty vehicles were part of 242 FRTs purchased in 2007, 2010 and 2014 for RM420 million from a local supply company who was contracted by the government via a closed tender process.

“Unfortunately, for the last three years, the vehicles have started to break down, with the main damage happening at the drive shaft or PTO resulting in the vehicle being abandoned”

Image via Harian Metro

The Selangor based company reportedly failed to provide adequate design and installation of required parts for the vehicles according to specifications. And this is believed to be the main reason why the FRTs keep breaking down. FYI, the unusable FRTs are worth a total of RM165 million.

The source noted that a basic FRT in good condition costs only about RM1.5 million per unit. Yet, the FRTs purchased were bought for up to RM1.86 million per unit from the local supplier. The source pointed out that although the government paid a high price for the vehicles, they still broke down frequently and he is sure it’s only a matter of time until the rest become unusable too.

Image via Wikimedia

Currently, the unusable FRTs have been left to rot at the several Bomba garages nationwide, including in Section 15, Shah Alam, Serdang and Salak Tinggi.

Based on the report, the process for purchasing vehicles for Bomba was done via open tender prior to 2007. And so, the vehicles received then were in good condition.  FRTs should be operative for at least 15 years, yet the ones currently being used by Bomba barely made it through 10 years of use.

This news comes after MACC’s investigation into the materials used for Bomba’s “fire-proof” suits worth RM13.5 million which were reported to be made of flammable materials.

MACC sent a sample of the suit to the Department of Chemistry who confirmed that the materials used to make the suits did not adhere to the standard set by Bomba. According to a statement by MACC, the investigation into the “fire-proof” suits is in its final stages.

This Is Why The Notre-Dame Cathedral Fire Is Such A Devastating Loss

A massive fire destroyed significant parts of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on the 16th of April.

While most of the main structure remain intact, the fire burned for several hours, destroying the cathedral’s iconic spire and roof before firefighters contained the blaze.

This shocked many Parisians, tourists and people all over the world, and it is still unclear as to what caused the fire.

But for those who are only familiar with the cathedral thanks to Disney animation ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’, let’s look at a few facts about the iconic Parisian structure to appreciate it a little more.

via GIPHY

THE SPIRE WAS A SPIRITUAL LIGHTNING ROD

In the aftermath of the fire, you might have seen videos of the long rod on the cathedral topple down amid a blaze.

That was the spire!

The spire also had an adorable little rooster on top of it (which you can see in the picture above!), which is said to be a piece with three relics secured in the metal bird’s body.

This includes a possible piece of the Crown of Thorns acquired by the church in 1239, and relics from Saint Denis and Saint Genevieve.

This rod is said to have been a ‘spiritual lightning rod’ to protect the parishioners within.

AN OLD TEMPLE LIKELY LIES BELOW THE CATHEDRAL

Image via TripSavvy

There was once a Gallo-Roman city known as Lutetia underneath the current area of Notre Dame, Paris. The cathedral may have been built right over a temple, as during an excavation, pieces of a sculpted altar dedicated to Jupiter and other deities were found.

NAPOLEON WAS CORONATED AS EMPEROR THERE

Image via Twitter

Napoléon Bonaparte decided to have his 1804 coronation as emperor in Notre-Dame, but the cathedral was in bad shape due to decay and vandalism.

The French statesman and military leader then declared its return to church use, returned it to its former glory, and hosted his grand ceremony within its walls.

This was also an event in which he famously crowned himself.

VICTOR HUGO ALSO HELPED SAVE THE BUILDING

Image via elsiglo.mx

Author Victor Hugo used the cathedral as a personification of France itself in his 1831 novel ‘Notre-Dame de Paris’, the book that inspired the Disney film ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’.

In the book, the hunchbacked bell ringer Quasimodo is NOT the main character.

His published story was a success, and it led to a major restoration of the building overseen by architects Jean-Baptiste-Antoine Lassus and Eugène Viollet-le-Duc.

IT TOOK 100 YEARS TO COMPLETE

Image via Histolines

The cathedral started construction in the 12th century when Maurice de Sully became bishop of Paris. It was also during the reign of King Louis VII.

100 years later, when it finally got completed, Henry VI of England was crowned as the King of France there.

IT IS HOME TO HISTORICAL AND BIBLICAL ARTEFACTS

Image via 10tv

The cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris is home to various artifacts, artwork and relics collected over the centuries, including what is believed to be the Crown of Thorns itself (pictured above), the original Great Organ dating back to medieval times, and the Rose Windows which are stained-glass windows that date back to the 13th century.

There are also sculptures, statues and paintings inside the cathedral that depict Biblical scenes and saints.

Thankfully, it’s been reported that all of the artefacts and artwork inside the cathedral have been saved from the fire.

Concerned About Missing Children? Here’s How You Can Have NUR Alerts Sent Straight To Your Phone

Published

By

Image via NST

NUR (National Urgent Response) Alert is a government initiative started by PDRM to ensure children aged 12 years and below receive protection from exploitation, violence and neglect.

To assist this initiative, Malaysian telco companies have decided to send out NUR Alerts to their users to help inform the public of any missing children.

However, your telco company will not send the alert to you without prior approval. If you subscribe to NUR Alerts, the announcements will be made via MMS sent free of charge to your mobile phone. The message will typically contain an image of the child and further information about their case.

Receiving NUR Alerts can prevent injury and save the lives of abducted and missing children. NUR Alerts can also serve as deterrents to those who would prey upon our children, as some perpetrators may release the abducted child once they find out the public is aware of the crime and the missing child.

Approving NUR Alerts to your phone is an easy single step procedure, here’s all you need to do:

Image via MCMC

Yesterday, a NUR Alert for an eight-year-old boy was posted on the PDRM website. Muhammad Zahiruddin Putra left his house at Pangsapuri Seri Dahlia in Bandar Seri Putra Bangi at 8am on Monday (15 April) to play with his friend.

His mother, Sainih Sunding only realized that Zahiruddin was missing after coming home from work that evening.

“I asked my third eldest child about Zahir and he told me Zahir was playing with a friend nearby.

We tried looking for Zahir around the neighbourhood but to no avail. A neighbour said he saw Zahir going to a shop at noon yesterday and in the evening, another neighbour saw him playing in the neighbourhood. That was the last time he was seen.

He was wearing a black t-shirt and a pair of blue pants. I am worried for his safety because he has not done this before (not coming home).”

If you have seen Zahiruddin or have any information on his whereabouts, do contact the nearest police station. Let’s hope we find this child soon!

Malaysia Is Being Used As Australia’s Tong Sampah?!

Published

By

Image via Huffpost

Turns out, Malaysia has become a tong sampah for Australia.

An exposé by Australian current affairs program, 60 Minutes, revealed that 71 thousand tonnes of rubbish from Australia were shipped to Malaysia in the past year because Australia’s recycling factories can’t cope with the massive amount of plastic being thrown away by them on a daily basis.

In an interview with 60 Minutes reporter Liam Bartlett, Malaysian Minister Yeo Bee Yin from the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology and Climate Change Minister is clearly frustrated.

Image via YouTube

“I really think every country should take care of their own waste. We have 400 containers at customs now, full of plastic waste. This is what I really want to do, I want to send them ALL back to their country of origin.”

She adds, the government has so far shut down 150 illegal recycling factories nationwide since last July, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. These factories dump plastic waste that can’t be recycled, on farmland, harming the environment and locals.

60 Minutes says Malaysia fell victim after China stopped accepting plastic waste from Australia. China was a giant importer of waste, taking in 125 thousand tonnes a year before they closed their doors. The Aussies then had to find an alternative and found that operators from China had opened illegal recycling factories in Malaysia.

Image via Business Insider

Yeo has vowed to impose stricter restrictions on plastic waste imports and new permits.

“I do not blame ordinary Australians. I think most of the people do not know this is happening. But now we know that this is happening, we need the solution.”

For now, Malaysia is inundated by the sheer number of illegal recycling factories, with limited resources to monitor the trade.

While this news is making us pretty annoyed with Straya, we’re reminded of the pepatah that goes something like “kuman di seberang laut tampak gajah didepan mata tak nampak” and consider how often we use and buang single-use plastic bag/straw/bottle/tapau containers in our own country. 🧐

Chinese Dad Threw Coins At A Plane For Good Luck Cause His Mother-In-Law Suruh, Gets Detained

For those married men out there, we’re sure you all understand how difficult it is to say no to your mother-in-law. Right? Well, a young father in China got detained by police for following a suggestion given to him by his mother-in-law.

A 31-year-old father in China was recently detained by airport security after he threw three coins near a plane he was about to board, to wish for a safe journey. The flight got delayed by 30 minutes due to his actions.

The disrupted flight was a Hainan Airlines flight from Wuhan in Hubei province to Xinjiang’s capital Urumqi.

Security footage obtained by Yangtze River Daily showed the dad, clad in a red shirt with his wife behind him holding their baby daughter, about to board the plane. Just before stepping in, he pauses and makes a throwing motion next to the door before entering the plane.

Video via South China Morning Post

The dad, whose surname is Xia, is just one of the many stories of people throwing coins at planes in China for good luck. However, the practice is dangerous as the coins could end up in the plane’s engines, damage the spinning turbine and cause engine failure.

After being detained, Xia was questioned by police. He told them that his mother-in-law had suggested that he throw coins at the ground for a safe journey since this was his four-month-old daughter’s first flight.

Apparently, Xia and his wife considered throwing the coins in the airport lounge but thought it wouldn’t be very effective. So Xia took advantage when he had a moment on the boarding bridge right before entering the plane.

Airport staff found three one-yuan coins on the tarmac and the flight departed after a 30-minute delay.

Apparently, Xia was detained by police in Wuhan for 10 days and did not end up making the flight with his wife and daughter. We wonder if jaga-ing his mother-in-law’s hati was worth it?

Check Your Extension Cords! These Five Cheap Brands Could Spark A Fire When Used!

Just like a dangerous thief who comes to rob your house in the night, a fire can rob your life, the life of your loved ones or at the very least rob you of your property, in the blink of an eye! In Malaysia, a faulty electrical source is one of the major causes of home fires

Recently, Hong Kong’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department issued a statement urging the public to stop using five multiway extension leads models.

You might be wondering, tu dekat Hong Kong, apesal this is important to us Malaysians? Well, these five models are actually available for purchase online in Malaysia for really cheap!

See!

According to the statement, the five models do not have the required safety features. To be specific, the wires used in these models are too thin. Yes, model extension cord ni macam model.. terlampau kurus.

You see, when the wires are too thin for the current requirement of your electronic gadgets, the wires will start to overheat. Kiranya, wire tu stress la korang paksa dia buat banyak sangat kerja. Member dah panas, lama lama dia terbakar.

Here’s the list of the five multiway extension lead units that you need to stay clear of:

On top of thin wires, the LDNIO and unbranded multiway extension lead units don’t have a built-in safety fuse either. Which means, if an overcurrent happens while you have your expensive iPhone XS plugged in charging, terbakar la telefon kau.

There’s nothing wrong with looking for a cheaper alternative when buying things whether online or IRL. Just make sure the item is safe for use and SIRIM approved! And if you are by chance using any of these products, throw them in the trash STAT! It’s not worth it bro..
