What happens when one of esports' greatest minds is thrown into a murder mystery instead of a League of Legends match?
Disney+ is about to find out with Murder Club, a new AI-powered mystery game show premiering on July 29. Among its eclectic cast is T1 superstar Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok), who will be making his first appearance as a regular cast member on a variety show.

Rather than competing in games, the participants will be dropped into fictional murder cases where everyone is both a player and a suspect. Each episode takes place in a different setting, from a baseball stadium and the Joseon era to a prison, with contestants racing to solve the mystery while navigating deception, shifting alliances, and psychological mind games.
Disney+ says the series uses AI to create immersive crime scenarios, giving each case a cinematic feel while adding a fresh twist to the familiar deduction game format.
Faker won't be tackling the cases alone. The star-studded lineup includes TVXQ's Max Changmin, TXT's Beomgyu, internet personality Kim Seon-tae, better known as "Chungju Man," travel creator Pani Bottle, actor Shin Sung-rok, comedians Choi Yang-rak and Eom Ji-yoon, LG Twins baseball player Kim Hyun-soo, and Park Joo-sung, the chef who appeared on Netflix's Culinary Class Wars.
According to the production team, each celebrity will rely on different strengths throughout the investigation, whether it's logical reasoning, persuasive storytelling, quick wit, or the ability to deceive fellow players. The goal is simple: identify the real killer before the killer outsmarts everyone else.
While Faker has made occasional television appearances over the years, he has rarely taken on regular entertainment projects, making Murder Club a notable departure from his usual public image. Known for his composure, discipline, and extraordinary decision-making on the competitive stage, the five-time League of Legends World Champion now faces a very different challenge, reading people instead of reading the game.
Whether those instincts translate from esports to detective work remains to be seen, but fans won't have to wait long. Murder Club premieres exclusively on Disney+ on July 29.
