According to Malay Mail, the producer of the film, John Y, said that the Hong Kong ? Malaysian collab has won 13 picture awards to date!
Based on a real criminal case that took place in Hong Kong, The Sampson Yuen-directed film centres around the story of a 45-year-old woman named Katy and her mother, who gets charged in court for hoarding animals in their apartment. Both anak beranak suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the charge unveils their abnormal yet somehow super rich, lives.
According to an interview by Golden Globe Awards, John Y, who not only produced the film but also wrote the script, was actually Katy?s lawyer who represented her in the 2002 court case IRL. Besides producing, writing the script, and acting as Katy?s lawyer, John Y plays Katy in the film too. Talk about multi-talented!
Meanwhile, Hong Kong actress Lo Koon-Lan takes on the role of Katy?s mother and Malaysian actress Ruby Yap plays a supporting role in the film.
BTW, Ruby Yap?s acting in this film won her the Best Supporting Actress in a Foreign Language Film award at the North Europe International Film Festival in February.
