As the curtain closes on 2019, Twitter Asia Pacific compiled the most talked about tweets for the year and here are some of the highlights:

Celebrity, fashionista and entrepreneur, Noor Neelofa, made headlines on Twitter when a video of her reciting a prayer was shared by user @maiadnan. The post, which showed Neelofa reciting an encouraging prayer for strength to an audience during an event hosted by the Naura channel on Astro called “Naura Shares”, gained nearly 100,000 thousand retweets.

A video of the cutest toddler (probably on the face of this earth) was also amongst the most talked about tweets for 2019. Twitter user @alyaaoreo shared a video of her adorable doe-eyed daughter, Sofia, who was concerned about her mother and offered her a drink- but only after checking whether she was fasting or not! The video gained about 1.5 million views, with twitterverse likened her to the character in the movie Wreck It Ralph, Venelope!

A story of a father’s love and devotion to his daughters also warmed the hearts of many this year. Twitter user Safia Anisa shared a post about her father, who had gone to extra lengths,  just to fly with his 2 two daughters. According to Safia, her dad has worked for Malaysian Airlines for 40 years but started his training again as a junior with Air Asi, just so he could fly alongside his two daughters before he retires. The post gained over 50, 000 retweets and 70,000 likes, all wishing the family well.

While Twitter might be a place where we wallow in sadness sometimes, it’s also a great place for humour and dry jokes. What seemed like a normal series of photos starting with a man “watering” his toy car got everyone surprised when the last picture ended with life-sized versions of the toy cars all neatly parked in his driveway. Twitter user @hadi_nor’s caption got us all laughing (and maybe crying too) - “We have to water them every day to make them grow”. Hadi’s tweet gained about 150,000 retweets, probably all wishing they were him.

Others that made the list also includes an amusing video of a man going down an imaginary escalator and a specially made video of Malaysia’s viral beauty entrepreneur Nurul Sajat teaching us the ABC.
