Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) wants the public to be reminded that its myBNM app is no longer in service.
This, following several reports of fake text messages and calls informing users that their accounts have been compromised, and that they need to provide their banking details to verify certain “transactions”.
The central bank took to Twitter to share the notice:
Hi. Please beware of impersonation scam. The Bank will never call you for anything related to your bank accounts. The myBNM app is no longer in service. Kindly do not click on the link and do not share any personal info including banking details, or password/PIN/TAC. #scamalert https://t.co/KPx3wqjwRE

These fake text messages and calls are nothing new, though…
Back in May, a businessman had lodged a police report claiming to have lost RM33,000 in savings after providing his banking information through the purported app.
