It’s been more than a year since the notorious Visit Malaysia 2020 logo was first unveiled in Chiang Mai, Thailand with the slogan “Travel. Enjoy. Respect.” in January 2018. Here’s a refresher of what it looks like:

Since it sparked neither joy nor respect among the Malaysian public due to its rudimentary and unappealing design, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture launched a nationwide competition in March 2019 in search of a suitable replacement for the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign.
Yesterday, our Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir finally unveiled the updated Visit Malaysia 2020 logo by 23-year-old graphic artist Alfred Phua at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The launch of the logo is a significant way to usher the much-awaited Visit Malaysia Year 2020. We truly hope that we will witness more tourist arrivals, be they by air, land or sea.

As usual, Malaysians took to the internet to voice their thoughts about the newly launched logo. In comparison to the previous design, the updated version certainly was a breath of fresh air, and many Malaysians loved the vibrant new design that featured the hornbill and our national flower.
Well done to the team for creating the logo for Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020. Looking forward to welcoming more tourists to our beautiful country! 🌺 https://t.co/Of9VLEWFvl

Kalau letak side by side, logo Visit Malaysia 2020 yang dulu (kanan) membuatkan logo baru Visit Malaysia 2020 nampak macam mahakarya agung pelukis Renaissance pic.twitter.com/fSOlzSyglu

However, many were confused about the slogan that accompanied the logo. Some were confused with the size inconsistencies while others were confused by the slogan altogether.
Visit Malaysia 2020 logo is significantly better than the previous one. Also, that nod to the hornbill is nice.

BUT WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD/ALLAH/BUDDHA/etc is the font so inconsistent in size, position and random underline?!?! pic.twitter.com/5t8jqzasfM
Saya nak support tapi that 'Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020' triggers my inner grammar Nazi.

The logo is not bad, but the tagline...
Dari zaman PM ke-4 sampailah PM ke-7, masih dengan Malaysia Truly Asia.

Naturally, some Malaysians took it upon themselves to “fix” the logo.
