Where there’s a will, there’s a way! 

For the past three years, 25-year-old Farhan has been saving RM10 a day in a bamboo tube or tabung buluh to prepare for his wedding.

He even kept it a secret from his wife, Nurul Hannani so he could surprise her!

Farhan only revealed the secret to his wife a day before their wedding day after he made a video of him breaking the tabung which he shared on his TikTok account, PaanSam.

The video has since gained over 1.4 million views at the time of writing.

According to NST, Farhan said that he wasn’t expecting for the video to go viral and he only intended to make a memorable video for their wedding. 

He said he started saving money after Hannani furthered her studies at a University in Terengganu and he had set a target to marry her once she graduated, which she did recently. 

“I found out about ‘tabung buluh’ from my friend who shared her ‘tabung buluh’ with me. Then I decided to make one for myself.

“The good thing about ‘tabung buluh’ is that you can never take out the savings unless you break them, so in a way, it helped me to discipline myself in saving consistently,” he said.

Farhan added that he used RM1,500 from the savings as a dowry for his wife while the rest was saved for their post-wedding expenses.
