It’s the new normal, they say. That means no more large gatherings or crowded events and social distancing at all times, including marriage ceremonies.
Since the announcement by Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS) that allows for solemnization ceremonies to be done online during the Movement Control Order (MCO), many couples have jumped on the online marriage bandwagon.

Sis Lynn shared her experience being married to her husband online at 12pm yesterday (22 April 2020) on Twitter, as netizens watched the whole process in awe.
Alhamdulillah, sis selamat nikah online pukul 12 tadi. Thank you JAIS kerana memudahkan urusan kami 💕 pic.twitter.com/8wVTd6Xkes

She said the whole ceremony was done through the Facebook Live function and was attended by only family and close friends. Everything was just the same as it would have been done in person, except this time it’s through a video call and there was no shaking of hands.
Ni sis cut live dekat fb tadi. Sis buat private event and invite family and close friends kat dalam live and tengok dari mula sampai akhir process nikah. Semuanya macam biasa je cumanya melalui video call and takda salam 😬 pic.twitter.com/7ZwxEEZRoX

The groom read their marriage agreements and Lynn, who was watching him do so in the video call, couldn’t help but shed a tear.
Here’s another clip. Taklik pun ada ya, benda tu wajib. Cumanya dibaca dalam video. Ni part yang paling sebak sis pun tak tahan 😢 pic.twitter.com/ff2vZCxuxH

According to Lynn, they had both planned the wedding a few months prior to the current wedding date as they are both university students and had to coordinate their semester breaks. They planned for a small wedding ceremony on April 4 for relatives and close friends and had even accounted for their wedding attire, door gifts and even photographers.
Tapi kitorang still buat goodies, baju kahwin, photographer and mini pelamin. So cerita dia sebulan before majlis, tiba tiba muncul Covid-19 ni. Sis sempat balik ke rumah di selangor few days before rmo. Time tengah rmo dapat berita dari jais yang kita tak boleh majlis keramaian

Unfortunately, just a month before their marriage, the MCO was announced and things weren’t looking so great for them. JAIS eventually announced that all wedding ceremonies needed to be postponed to adhere to the social distancing rules, forcing them to cancel their ceremony at the very last minute.
Luckily, it was soon announced that online marriage can be allowed, with certain set guidelines.
Almost 3 minggu senyap, tiba tiba jumaat lepas dapat berita dari JAIS yg kami boleh bernikah online. So sis tunggu hari isnin untuk call JAIS untuk tahu mcm mana caranya. JAIS nak tgk borang nikah yang dah complete still valid or x then dia suruh dtg office esok which is semalam pic.twitter.com/Au0rlYMF3o

Takpe sis. InshaAllah PKP ni akan berakhir tak lama lagi. Nikah dengan penuh adat lagi bermakna n akan dikenang selama² nya. Hope dipermudahkan semua. N jodoh sis berpanjangan hingga ke syurga 💕

Lynn is grateful that the whole ceremony went smoothly and that she can’t wait to hug her husband when the MCO is lifted!
So sekarang kitorang long distance je dulu nanti habis pkp bolehlah jumpa and terus peluk sebab dah halal 🤣 Kepada yang dah completed borang tapi nak nikah, sis doakan semoga semua urusan berjalan dengan lancar dan semoga rumahtangga diberkati Allah. Yaay dah tak single hihihihi
