Oh no! Our dear Youth and Sports Minister, YB Syed Saddiq, was admitted to hospital recently for appendicitis. While some users wished for his speedy recovery, one Twitter user decided that this may all seem a bit... staged.
The minister shared a photo of him recovering in a ward at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) with Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah binti Haji Mohamad Ali right by his side.
Alhamdulillah, pembedahan appendicitis berjalan dengan lancar.

TQ kepada semua yang menyampaikan doa dan kata kata semangat.
I am recovering at home now. Immediately got back to work & have called for a meeting on our SEA games post-mortem today with the stakeholders.

While his condition clearly looked severe, one Twitter user thought it was fake.
According to Twitter user, Solehin, a doctor friend of his had confirmed that YB Saddiq did not suffer from appendicitis, after he forwarded the one evidence he had with him, which was the same photo posted by the minister.
Aku 4wd gmbr ni dkt seorang kawan, Doktor Perubatan.

Belum sempat aku tanya dia betul ke kalau sakit apendiks mcm ni, dia terus jawab: WAYANG!
Aku pun terus 🤣
Dia smbung:
1. Cuff BP itu tak perlu sbb pesakit stable; &
2. Luka appendiks x besar mana.

He claimed that the minister’s claims were false on two pretexts; 1) the blood pressure monitors that are not commonly used for those who had gone through an appendicitis surgery and 2) The size of the surgery wound, that is not supposed to be that big.
While Solehin himself has no medical degree and has not gotten a chance to visit the minister at the hospital and inspect the wound himself, he quickly confirmed that the minister was faking his injury due to his history of faking injuries.
Twitter users were quick to point that Solehin may have accused the minister without any hard evidence.
how can your friend as a DOCTOR diagnose syed saddiq only through a picture? lmao i tell u, BN supporters will do anything (even if it's stupid) to mock current gov https://t.co/3aocfMbTqF

Macam mana dia boleh komen specifically for this case?
Dia tau ke vital signs terkini Kes ni? Dia ke yang operate , so dia tau size luka tu berapa, incision apa dia guna, what type of instrument used? https://t.co/H063v4HO8c
There’s nothing wrong with the picture except, I should be there as well 😂 https://t.co/ynilPKtvK5

Even adored Malaysian surgeon Dr Amalina Che Bakri also had something to say.
I’m sorry but I need to say something because general surgery is my specialty. There’s nothing wrong with this picture. Appendicitis wound needs to be covered to prevent wound infection. BP cuff is there to monitor BP normally every 4 hours if the patient is stable. https://t.co/Jccd8HdR3h

While some may want to believe that the minister had plotted his injury for some kind of political agenda, this definitely doesn’t look like the case. We wish him a speedy recovery and to just ignore all the haters!
