What’s the probability of you being selected to the world-renowned Harvard College?
1: 57,435. Yes, and two Malaysians made it!
Both 20 year-olds are now part of 1,968 students selected, which is 3.4% of the total.
Muhammad Hamdi Ahmad Hakimi and Jarell Cheong Tze Wen will be enrolled in the Ivy League school’s undergraduate class of 2025.
Hamdi is an A-Levels graduate from Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar while Cheong is from Sunway College, Petaling Jaya, also an A-Levels graduate.
They’re both elated over the news and are trying to challenge themselves. Hamdi added that he aims to give back to the community in the future.
Malaysian Harvard alumni, Nadiah Wan tweeted the good news:
This year Harvard College had the lowest admission rate in its 385-yr history (3.43%). Super proud that these 2 Msians beat the odds. It’s a testament to our public schools & commitment to education, but it also shows how 2 wildly different, talented kids can excel. Congrats! pic.twitter.com/W26SmCzStP
