A 14-year-old student in Kedah who initially claimed he had been kidnapped has admitted that the story was fabricated, with police later uncovering allegations of school bullying during their investigation.

The incident began when the Form Two student reported that he had been abducted by two unidentified men after leaving school. He claimed the suspects tied his hands before abandoning him by the roadside, prompting authorities to launch an immediate investigation.

However, police later determined that the kidnapping report was false. The teenager eventually confessed that he had made up the story after running away from home. According to police, he had accidentally entered the girls' toilet at school and was feeling embarrassed and overwhelmed by the incident, he decided to leave home and fabricated the kidnapping story.

As investigations continued, officers discovered a more troubling issue. The student alleged that he had been repeatedly bullied at his previous school, raising concerns that the emotional distress may have contributed to his decision to fabricate the kidnapping report.

Police subsequently arrested four students in connection with the alleged bullying case. They have since been released on police bail while investigations continue. Authorities are also working with the Education Ministry and relevant agencies to gather further information.

The teenager has been referred to the Social Welfare Department to receive appropriate support, while police continue to investigate both the bullying allegations and the circumstances surrounding the false report.

The case has sparked renewed discussions about school bullying and the importance of ensuring students have safe channels to seek help before situations escalate. It also highlights the need for parents, educators and authorities to remain vigilant in identifying signs of emotional distress among young people.
