More than 4,500 people have pledged to donate their organs since the ‘Organ Donor Pledge’ registration feature was launched on the MySejahtera app last Tuesday (6 September).

According to the Ministry of Health, an average of 700 new organ donors have pledged daily since the new feature was introduced, “More than 4,500 pledges had been made as of 3 pm on Monday, 12 September.”

With this new feature, the ministry is now targeting 1,000 pledges daily to at least reach 1% of 320,000 Malaysians who pledged as an organ donor. 

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the MySejahtera app will incorporate an organ donor pledge feature to raise awareness and support for the organ donation initiative, aside from making it easy for people to sign up as donors.

He also added that there are 10,442 people waiting for organ transplants as of today.
