On Saturday (10 October), police arrested a Perodua Myvi driver after causing a three-car accident at a traffic light intersection causing the death of Royal Malaysian Navy personnel, Mohd Rizal Buseri.

The 23-year-old driver, who caused the accident, was sentenced to six years in prison and fined a total of RM8,000 by the Magistrates Court today (15 October) for driving under the influence of drugs.

According to the Malay Mail, Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin ordered Nur Fatin to pay a fine of RM3,300 for three other offenses - not having a valid driving license and driving a vehicle without road tax and insurance.
She pleaded guilty to all three additional charges.

The accused is currently undergoing a fifth charge of self-administering drugs in an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The video of the accident that killed the 31-year-old navy personnel went viral on social media and gained widespread public attention.

The driver of the Myvi later tested positive for methamphetamine use.
