A cute little tapir was just brought into the world yesterday and the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) are asking us to name it!
Perhilitan tweeted the good news on its official account, with pictures of the adorable newly born tapir.

"We have good news for everyone. At about 4pm, a female tapir weighing 8.6kg was born to a pair of tapirs, Mala (the female tapir) and Boy (male). Looks like Baradek has a friend. Do you have a name to suggest for this female baby Tapir?" asked Perhilitan in a tweet.

The post has since gone viral with over 11K retweets as Malaysians started suggesting a suitable name for the newest addition to the tapir family.
One user who was responsible for giving the other tapir, Beradek, its name, suggested the same algorithm for the new tapir by combining the parents’ names. The result?
Since Mala+Boy kalau gabung jadi Maboy, tak sesuai pulak sebab dia betina. Jadi saya cadangkan nama dia Magurl.

Nanti Beradek panggil dia "yo Magurl, come here bebeh"
Following the trend of unique, hard to pronounce, long names in Malaysia, one user suggested…oh just read it yourself.
Nur Qystina Aurora Dahlia Elena Jazmin Citra Aaleyah Ariana binti Boy tapi nanti panggil Adek, sebab abang dia Beradek.

But in the end, as the user points out, we would all just call her “Adek” so it and the other male tapir can together be called “Adek Beradek”.
Of course, many have also included the word tapir itself in the name.

As tapir is one of the many wildlife that are endangered, this smart user took the opportunity to educate the public as to what will happen to them if we don’t start investing in wildlife conservation.
Pupus. Saya cadangkan nama dia 'Pupus'. Sebab sebagai satu peringatan yang mana kalau kita tak memelihara dan memulihara alam sekitar, semua hidupan macam ni akan PUPUS.

The public is welcomed to give name suggestions on Perhilitan’s social media platforms on Facebook or Twitter.
What do you think of the names so far? Do you have a name in mind?
